Lotus Eaters Lullaby – Exhibition by Lee Woodman, Refinery ArtSpace, Nelson, 2022 [Images]

February 14, 2022 Leave a Comment

The Lotus Eaters Lullaby exhibition was on display at the Refinery ArtSpace in Nelson from 24 January to 19 February 2022.

“Lotus Eaters Lullaby is a selection of works from the last 2 years of making from multi-media artist Lee Woodman. Born and raised in Nelson Whakatu, Woodman builds assemblage sculptures that are hopeful, creative acts of resistance to the capitalist realities we find ourselves in.

The artist believes this region cultivates a lethargic trance on account of its pleasant scenery, agreeable weather, and overwhelmingly colonised culture. Lotus Eaters Lullaby is an attempt in fanciful aspirations to escape this trance, and a diligent self-slap to not fall asleep in this town.”

A few more photos to be added and a video coming later.
