The tide was just right when we visited the Ōhau point fur seal colony towards the end of June, 2022. The seal pups were having fun in some tidal pools while others were resting up in the sun.
This area was devastated by the 2016 earthquake and underwent an extensive rebuild. Today the fur seals are found in good numbers up and down the Kaikōura coast.
The vid ain’t nothing fancy, some quick shots on our way past – but it makes me smile and I hope it brings you some enjoyment also.
