I recently had the pleasure of working with Susie Vokins and the team at SVA on their new website.
Every web site project is unique in terms of the type of information or services being offered. The notion of presenting information on a single page raises questions about the changing ways in which visitors interact with content.
Do ‘above the fold‘ rules still apply? Do people expect to scroll down a page? How will navigation work?
For those of us who spend a lot of time in front of a desktop computer, it’s easy to forget that more people are accessing the web and doing their online shopping using a mobile device.
People will encounter your web site in many different contexts and via screens of all different sizes.
It was with these things in mind that we set about shaping a one page website for SVA.
The Golden Bay based company are a specialist consultancy connecting people and companies – in particular returning Kiwis, Australians and global job seekers with international experience and have a wealth of experience behind them.
From a collaborative effort emerged a website which nicely reflects both their beautiful location and provides a clear hierarchy of information – all on one page.
UPDATE: They have since leveraged the power of WordPress and made in-house changes to the site structure and moved away from the single page layout.
I can only praise Rob in all his dealings with myself and my colleagues – he was calm, informed, insightful, had great attention to detail and was always there whenever we had any questions. The result is a website and logo that I am 100% happy with created in less than 3 weeks. I cannot recommend Rob more highly.
