Seals at the Otumatu Wildlife Reserve – Kaikōura [Video]

Some holiday shots from a trip to Kaikōura in June 2022.

Despite summer being the peak time of year for tourists, Kaikōura is a great place to visit in the winter. At this time of year there are quite a few whales around as the Tongan humpback whale migration is happening and there are other whales doing their thing along with orcas and dolphins.

Great beaches to explore and mountain scenery to enjoy and quite a few seals up and down the coast. Seal watching can be quite entertaining – they’re funny creatures. Interesting to watch their interactions.

Came across this little reserve pretty much be accident and enjoyed watching a group of seals doing their thing.
