‘Surrogate’ was on display at the 18a Gallery in Nelson, October 2021.
The installation comprises an array of visual and audio components and explores the dynamics of memory.
‘Found piano pieces, canvas stretchers, drafting film, Data projectors, overhead projector, 8mm projector, projector case, found home movie footage, found slides’.
Impossible to capture the essence of this installation with stills – and technically a bit tricky given the lighting and confined spaces. I’m a lot happier with the images from Push Play which shared the space.
Perhaps the video (in the works) will do a better job of presenting the immersive and provocative light/sound experience of Surrogate.
